We’re back. Back where? Back home? Back in black? Back in town? Back in the saddle? Back in the day?
Back in Boulder.
After 3 weeks of travel, Loki and I truly enjoyed this quiet week. What did we do? Honestly, not much of anything and it was FREAKING awesome.
You might think from the blankets, cuddling and curry that it’s cold here. Wrong. It’s been 90s all week. I just have to have a cozy blanket when on the couch and I could eat curry every night no matter the weather (Jesse, who is still in Boston, said “good! Have curry every night while I’m not there!” …he thinks curry tastes like earth). Oh that coziest of cozy green blanket? We snagged that gem on the Aran Islands. It feels like melted butter and is the most perfect, nap inducing throw.
The proof it’s been hot is in my
pudding coffee – I only like hot coffee first thing in the morning, but once the mercury starts creeping up, my afternoon coffees start to chill out.
Also I was pleasantly surprised to come back and find our garden hadn’t completely shriveled up. In fact, there were some lovely little presents waiting for us (and no I don’t mean the neighbor’s cat has a new litter box)
Saturday morning I did my first “long run” in a very looooong time. It hurt. It sucked. It was awesome. It was exactly what I needed. You know what I mean? No? I’m bat shit crazy? I’m cool with that.
Also, it’s officially summer here in Boulder. How can I tell other than my iced coffee? I ran at 6:30am and saw 5 snakes out sunning themselves in the already 80° morning. Ooph.
I suppose on the bright side of things, the strawberries are ripe and ready ’round here.
If you know me, you know this is true love because I DO NOT share food. Let me rephrase, I do not share my own food. I’m perfectly happy mooching off someone else’s plate. Hypocritical, I know.
Saturday afternoon was a lazy one. I fully intended to unpack my travel suitcase…that has been sitting, abandoned in the hallway, since I arrived back in Boulder on Tuesday evening…but some how I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Instead I whipped up a batch of Cashew-Oat-Coconut-Chocolate bites (they desperately need a catchier name before I post the recipe) and devoured Evicted (if you read Hillbilly Elegy and liked it, you need to read this next). I was planning on actually shooting these bites for a future post, but I realized that not only did I leave my Nikon at my parent’s house, but I also left all my SD cards with it. Meaning the perfectly good Canon I have sitting, staring at me right now is useless. So pardon all the Iphonography (is that a word?) in this post.
And yeah, that’s about it. I’m going to return to my laziness now.
