Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Do anything wild and crazy? The closest to wild and crazy I got was this wall of hot sauce. Hold me back guys, hold me back.
I love hot sauce. On everything really, but especially eggs and avocado toast.
Also, while on the topic of food, I recommend that you do NOT go to the grocery store hungry. You’ll end up buying all the nut butters. Which isn’t a problem if you have an endless nut butter budget, but unfortunately I don’t. So I’ll be eating nothing but nut butter for the next month. And ramen noodles.
I was just introduced to Kalot Superfood, and if you haven’t jumped on the wagon, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS. A spoonful makes the perfect treat. I got the Dark Chocolate and Coconut Almond Butter and Fruit spread. DANG. Like holy wow, where has this been all my life. I’m trying so hard to not eat the whole jar in 48 hours, but I can hear it calling to me from the pantry…eat me, eat ALL of me, just grab a spoon, J won’t notice I’m gone – he eats that sugary skippy stuff. Yes, I have a weird relationship with food. A healthy relationship, but weird.
Can we pause and talk about that word real quick, “nut butter”. There has to be a better word for the wonderfully creamy rich nut spread category. Sure peanut butter, cashew butter and almond butter sound acceptable, but when talking about the category at large, nut butter just doesn’t do it justice. Anyone have a better term? I did a quick search and the only other name I could find was “spreadable nut foodstuff”…doesn’t exactly roll off your tongue.
Yesterday, we went for our weekend family run. I like this little weekend tradition that’s forming.
It was a rare overcast day in Colorado, but I’ll take it. It was kind of cool to see (or not see, in this case) the mountains all covered in clouds.
Also, I made pancakes for Sunday brunch again (another weekend tradition?). This time I added apples and cinnamon. If you haven’t had apple cinnamon pancakes topped with little coconut oil and maple syrup, please try it asap. It’s so good.
Sunday afternoon we went for a little walk downtown, drank some beer and bought some cute mugs. There’s a Peppercorn store in downtown Boulder and man, it is SO MUCH trouble every time I go in there. I just want all the baking/cooking things. ALL OF THEM. Who knew you needed 4 different sizes of muffin tins, but now that I know this is a possibility, I need all of them. I could spend all day in there. And all my life savings. But unfortunately, I already spent those savings on spreadable nut foodstuffs.
If you ever need a gift idea for me, just go into Peppercorn, close your eyes, pick up something, and I’ll love it. (but maybe don’t close your eyes since there’s a lot of fragile items in there…)
If you read Saturday’s post, you would conclude that we did not in fact go skiing yesterday. I forgot it was daylight savings and there was just zero chance of me getting out of bed early enough for skiing. I’m just not that
crazy hard core.
And now it’s Monday. Time to take Teeps for his morning romp.
Do you have a better name for nut butter?
Hot sauce – yay or nay? What do you like to put it on?
Do you have any weekend traditions?
